What Did I Just Witness?

Walking home from a quick trip to the store, the last thing you expect to see is a black sphere in the sky.

• Incident: UAP - Perfect black sphere with metallic sheen

The Sighting

"Walking along the road, not far from home, I looked up to see an object in the sky. It was a perfect sphere, black in color and appeared to be metallic. It was above a two-story house, at the height of half that length again (about three stories high).

I stopped walking for a brief second to see if I could hear any sound coming from it; there was none, nor were there any lights visible.

It maintained the same height and speed as it travelled past the house and across the road into the field opposite. I started to walk faster to keep it in sight, but it just disappeared.

I stood for a few minutes searching the skyline for this weird object but it was gone.

What Did I See?

“...meh, don't be silly, it had to be a drone. You're not seriously suggesting it was little green men?”

"What had I just witnessed? Was it a balloon? Well, I am convinced it wasn't. It was perfectly round and there was no sign of any cord hanging from it. It also appeared to have mass, like a heavy solid appearance. There was also a breeze and the object I witnessed did not move in the manner an air filled object would have. It held its height and course regardless of the breeze.

Could it have been a drone? Well, I did a little research and this is what I discovered. All drones have to have lights on them (usually to be seen are green and red lights as shown in the image to the left). According to taylorwessing.com all drones must "...have lights to assist in the controllability and conspicuity of the drone at night..." this is according to UK and EU drone regulation as of Sept 2019 (Brexit may impact this but it has yet to be seen as it is early days).

According to dronelife.com (US site) most drones have indicator LEDs that can be seen from the ground. The object I witnessed had no lights whatsoever, it was only highlighted by the sheen from the downing sun. As for noise, the majority of commercial drones are usually quite loud. They are not exactly know for their stealth. Then we have shape. Any I have researched all look like the one in the image above. Four arms and a landing stand positioned below it. There are design concepts out there for sphere drones, but as yet there are none I could find that were available commercially. What I saw what a perfectly round metallic sphere (yes, I am aware I keep repeating this, but I am still in awe of what I saw).

Conclusion

What I witnessed that evening was not, in my opinion, anything I have ever seen before in my 46-years on this earth. I wish so much I had the thought to take out my phone and video it. Even though I use and old iPhone 5s and the video capture isn't great at a distance, it would have been something. But I can honestly say the thought never entered my mind which to me is strange in itself. I have been researching the paranormal for years now and anytime I have witnessed something of high-strangeness I have always taken photos or recordings. This time...I felt no inclination to do so. I just watched in awe as my mind sought to rationalise what I was seeing. In my head I was running over what it could be, what it couldn't, as I followed its path until it just simply vanished...faded and then it was gone.

It didn't go over a hill, it didn't get tangled in trees (it was that low), I watched it until it was gone.

From this night I have kept my eyes to the skies when walking and my hand in my pocket gripping my phone just in case I happen to get lucky and see it again. This time I will be ready."
